Spice up your food!

1. Weight Loss: For one, the extra kick of hot sauce or a chopped jalapeno can make even the most bland diet food more palatable, causing you to be more likely to stick with your weight loss plan. In addition, they may jack up your metabolism. Studies show that the main compound in chilies, called capsaicin, has a thermogenic effect and may cause the body to burn bonus calories for 20 minutes post chow-down. 2. Heart Health: Studies show that cultures that eat the most spicy food have much lower incidence of heart attack and stroke. Potential reasons: Chili peppers can reduce the damaging effects of LDL (bad cholesterol) and capsaicin may fight inflammation, which has been flagged as a risk factor for heart issues. 3. Cancer Prevention: According to the American Association for Cancer Research, capsaicin has the ability to kill some cancer and leukemic cells. One particular spice, turmeric, found in curry powder and some mustards, may slow the spread of cancer and growth of tumors. "It has the same effects on the body as certain cancer drugs do." says Gregory A. Plotnikoff, M.D., senior consultant for health care innovation at Allina Hospitals and Clinics in Minnesota. Pair it with black pepper to absorb 2,000 percent more turmeric. Fantastic on roasted veggies or kebabs, or in soups. 4. Lower Blood Pressure: Vitamins A and C strengthen the heart muscle walls, and the heat of the pepper increases blood flow throughout your body. All of this equals a stronger cardiovascular system. 5. Fewer Blow-Your-Top Moments: Spicy foods boost production of feel-good hormones, such as serotonin. So they may help ease depression and stress.

She laughed when I approached her about competing, now Bre starts prep for her 3rd show

Words cannot explain how excited I am to start prep for my third show! The gains I have made over the past year surpass my imagination of what I thought I could ever accomplish. It has been a long journey of hard work, tears, good days, bad... days, doubt, and joy. A roller coaster of emotions to say the least! I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of a few people...Tayler Parry has been my confidant throughout this whole process. She has supported me every step of the way and has given me the knowledge to now be able to train myself with her guidance. Tayler has not only supported me but has created a team of supporters who motivate each other. I probably wouldn't have been able to enjoy this journey as much if I didn't have Team Taylermade! I have become best friends with these girls. They push me to do better each and everyday. When I am feeling down these girls are right there to listen whether it's fitness related or not. They are my cheerleaders, motivators, inspiration and best friends. I am so blessed and thankful each and everyday that I have these incredible women in my life! I look forward to our Competition season and can't wait to see everyone on stage! Here's to another great season!See More

Ashley drops 19lbs in 8 weeks on “The Fit Mom” Program

Ashley Draper (Now Aramjoo!) Age: 23 My whole life, I have struggled with both weight and confidence. I have always been busy with school, now finishing my last year of law school and always used that as an excuse for my poor habits. I continued to get heavier and got to a point where I was completely ashamed of myself. I could no longer enjoy things I used to love, like shopping, swimming and taking pictures with friends and family. I got engaged in March 2013 to a man who has been with me, through everything, for seven years. We planned to get married in August 2013 and I knew that something had to change. My weight, my level of confidence and my outlook on life were no longer fair to not only me but to him either. I was recommended to Tayler by Miranda Head. After seeing how awesome Miranda looked from competing, I asked her if she had any recommendations of who to contact that could help me with my goals. I did not want to compete but just wanted to feel better about myself. She recommended contacting Tayler and making the leap to finally contact her was one of the best decisions of my life. I decided to do an 8 week program (since I was exactly 8 weeks away from my wedding!). Tayler created an at-home plan for me to follow so I no longer had any excuses! The results I saw not only in the numbers but also in the pictures brought me to tears. It was not easy but seeing these kinds of results in such a short time made it all worth it! By the end of the [...]

Fit & Pregnant

I train many clients from all walks of life, some looking to step on stage, others needing to lose significant weight to those who are just looking for a healthier lifestyle and even some who are expecting. I have a client who is now 21 weeks along in her pregnancy and works out with me 3x a week. She is a rock star and has been training with me for quite some time. We started working together when she was engaged; getting her ready for her big day and now we are keeping her healthy and happy during her pregnancy. Recently she has expressed how some people would make comments about her working out telling her "Aren't you working out too much" "You shouldn't be working out while you’re pregnant" ect. I could tell this really bothered her as she works so hard to be healthy. So I thought this would be a great subject to talk about and get feedback from my followers. I think now a days working out and being pregnant is more common. You will find women working out almost up until they give birth. My personal opinion is that there is a generation in which working out and being pregnant was considered NOT healthy and by doing so you were hurting the baby. Exercising during your pregnancy has great benefits – it can help prepare you for labor and childbirth and lift your spirits – but you need to approach working out with extra caution. Whether you are a regular exerciser looking to continue your regimen during pregnancy or a former couch potato looking to get moving, follow these rules to keep you and your baby safe. 1. Taylor proves the scale doesn’t matter!

"I have to be honest, it wasn't easy and I wasn't perfect, but it was an amazing journey. In only 8 short weeks I have gained more muscle than I have ever had, and lowered my BMI to its lowest ever. I have been lifting since I was in 7th grade but my diet never changed. I could eat whatever I wanted because I was always busy with cheerleading. Before I began, I had lost weight the unhealthy way but not on purpose. I knew I needed to become healthy and this was the perfect program for me! I couldn't be happier with the results! Thanks Tayler!"

Jeff lost over 50lbs in 12 weeks!!!

12 weeks ago I received a voice mail from a girl that sounded about 16 years old.  She sounded peppy, nice, sweet, girly, everything I did not want in a trainer.  I called her back, she introduced herself as Tayler Parry and wanted to know my availability to see if our schedules would work out.  I work the graveyard shift and sleep from 9am to 4pm usually.  She said "Oh Perfect, we can workout in the afternoons then", still in her sweet girly voice.  I told her that is sleep time for me, Tayler's next sentence to me is the only reason I committed to her.  She changed her voice to the once that I now am familiar with and said "Jeff, do you want to change your life or not". It can already be embarrassing enough working out one-on-one with a trainer in a gym with people watching you.  With Tayler, it is worse, the constant pushing, yelling, encouraging voice of hers carrying through the facility.  After 2 workouts with her, I didn't care anymore how much people looked, I was too busy trying to catch my breath or not die.  Tayler made me uncomfortable, she was in my face, not just yelling at me to work harder but also seemed happier than ever when I finished a set. This was a tough journey.  This journey has changed my life and my families lives at how we look at food and being fit and healthy.  My wife worried and stressed everyday about what to make for meals and how to keep encouraging me at home also.  My wife had to listen to my complaints about my schedule and food and being tired.  When I [...]

Chelseas journey to the stage.

I remember when I first contacted one of the girls on the team to ask her about what she does, why she's doing it, and how she is so commited. She told me all about her journey, and gave me Tayler's contact info. I immediately was super excited, so I grabbed my laptop and messaged her asking how a girl is to go about maybe competing in a show. The first time I went and saw Tayler, I was a little nervous, cause I knew she had been on stage tons of times before, and she looked amazing. I got to the gym and she was super nice and welcoming, and she made me feel welcome. We talked through workouts, and dieting, and she ran me through a quick workout to show me what the next 12 weeks would be like on a smaller scale. It wasn't too bad, but I was excited and ready for the workouts to kick my butt and get me into gear. I was told it was a journey, and I would know and understand myself and my body so much more by the end. The next 12 weeks included going to the gym 7 nights a week, doing weights and minimal cardio. The workouts weren't that bad, the dieting was probably the hardest for me. I've always heard that dieting is 90% and the gym is 10%, I believe that is true after what I went through. I ate chicken, egg whites, veggies, Ezekiel bread, fish, and turkey for 12 weeks. I've never seen my body change so much so fast. I had been going to the gym before that a few times a week, but I hadn't changed [...]

Beat the Holiday Bulge

The Holiday goodie season is well underway. Co-workers are constantly bringing treats and you try desperately to avoid the break room which overwhelmes you with smells of all the holiday sweets. This is one of the hardiest times of the year for most people to stay on track of reaching their health and fitness goals. Below are some tips to keep you from tipping the scales! 1. Set goals! Sit down today and write down a few goals to keep you focused and on track. Maybe it is not eating any sweet treats or exercise at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes. Whatever your goals are WRITE them down and post somewhere that you can see them everyday! 2. Plan ahead! Plan your meals for a week in advance or even every 3-4 days. Make time to prep your meals and have them ready to grab first thing in the morning. You will have no excuse to eat fast food or grab a bag of chips from the vending machine. 3. Try new "Heathly" recipes. Yes we all love grandmas famous pumpkin pie and the classic green bean casserole but take some time to make adjustments to your recipes to make a heathlier version. Find cooking or baking substitutions like Greek yogurt for sour cream, applesauce instead of butter and eggs, whole-wheat flour instead of white refined flour for examples. There are a lot of great articles and websites out there to help you do this. 4. DRINK WATER! Water has one of the most important roles to play in maintaining a healthy body and helps flush your system. Water is the carrier of oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to the body’s parts and also provides a medium for [...]
