Marcia finds herself again after a 10 year battle with anorexia

My name is Marcia and I started the Better Body Better You Program with Tayler in June of this year.  Let me be the first to tell you it changed my life in so many ways; in ways that Tayler doesn’t even know she had an impact.  To really understand where this all started, I need to go back several years to when I was 9; yes I said it 9 years old.  My family was a military family and we moved every three years.  Often times when you are raised in this type of controlled environment you find things that you and only you have control over.  Mine was my weight.  At the age of 9, I weighed around 140 pounds and I was under five feet tall.  At that time we lived in an area where girls were judged pretty severely on their looks and here I was a very happy chubby girl who laughed on the outside but was hurt on the inside.  This was the beginning of ten long years of fighting anorexia.  At my lowest weight I was 72 pounds, running 15 miles a day, eating maybe 150 calories a day, working full time and finishing high school taking Advanced Placement classes.  I must say when I look back that I am lucky to be alive but was strong enough to know I needed help which I received through outpatient care and a strong will. Needless to say, anorexia never truly goes away.  So I have always had this tremendous struggle with my body image.  I went to college and actually obtained a degree in kinesiology.  The intent was to stay healthy with this new information but unfortunately life had [...]

From ACL surgery to a competition stage

Growing up at Gold’s Gym I admired the work ethic of everybody at the gym especially my dad. I was always smaller and looked up to those bigger guys at the gym and new that eventually I’d be one of those guys. I began training with the bodybuilder mindset when I was playing baseball at Maple Woods Community College. It was always tough balancing between the want to be bigger and stronger while staying functional on the field and some might say that I focused a bit too much on the gym but I feel that I kept a good balance. In late fall of 2012 I had my first knee surgery which kept me off the field in the spring. All went well with the surgery and my recovery up until fall of 2014 when I not only tore my meniscus for the second time but also my ACL. When my doctor told me I had torn my ACL I knew that I had played my last game on a baseball field; while extremely sad about this, I was rejoicing at the same time because I knew that my bodybuilding journey was about to begin. There was no doubt in my mind who I wanted to lead me: Tayler Perry. I approached Tayler about competing while I was working at Gold’s Gym and told her that once I’d recovered that I wanted to start training with her. My ACL surgery was on January 7, 2015. By the next week I was in rehab and continued in rehab three times a week. Most ACL surgeries set people back six months but I worked my ass off and was 100% cleared by the end of April [...]

Sarah transforms from Powerlifter to Bikini Competitor

After powerlifting for about a year and a half I knew I wanted to push my physique to show of the hard work I’ve put into my body… But I had no idea where to start. I googled fitness model training programs and visited a nutritionist, in addition to the many google searches I archived. Months passed of depressing meals and plateaued progress. I knew I needed some further guidance to provide me the proper tools… somewhere along the way I decided training for a specific event would give me the proper drive and motivation. I visited with several trainers, and made very clear timelines to complete my goals. At the point of choosing a trainer and officially starting comp prep I was pretty strung out. I was nervous. There were nights I became physically ill with the stress about dedicating myself to a bikini competition—what if I failed??? What would I tell my friends and family??? I knew I’d be embarrassed and ashamed if somehow I could not follow through, and truly competition prep was an unknown process to me. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. My fight or flight senses were going berserk. This is where fate interfered and gave me the best coach anyone could want for a 16 week intensive prep. Following my gut, I opted out of the guidance of one trainer in favor of Tayler’s training. As soon as I started training with her instruction, all the anxiety and fears melted away. In front of me was a clear cut plan telling me exactly what to do and when for the next four months. I didn’t have to think about a thing. Comp prep was [...]

50 is the new 25!

So 40-50 are some rough years on a body. Well I am kind of an over achiever so I like to go above and beyond the norm. In those ten years, my husband graduated dental school, we bought a business and started working together. Numerous friends and loved ones got cancer. With all this added to normal stress of life and going out to eat a lot; I managed to grow a nice muffin top. I have always worked out..Tim and I were going to the same gym when we met 26+ years ago. But, I was losing the battle with the bulge.   Tim knew I was growing increasingly frustrated, considering surgery or just giving up. I was just not able to get the lasting results I was looking for, I was yo-yoing. He talked with Tayler and bought my first training sessions for me for my 49th Birthday. I had never considered competing, I just wanted my 25 year old body back. Now I have it back and placed 5th in my first competition.  Tayler is so smart, she gave me just enough information to keep me intrigued and coming back for more. We worked very hard, she pushed when she needed and gave me time to find out how serious I was. This is a journey. The body does not respond the way or as quick as we wish ( especially old bodies). But Tayler can get you were you want to be, it will take the 4 D's; Diet, Determination, Dedication, and Diligence. Thank you Tayler! I could not have gotten my 25 year old body back without you. Actually Tim says it is the best I have ever looked. Not shabby [...]

What TaylerMade BOOTCAMP is all about

I looked Tayer up in the beginning of 2013 and was in Aw reading the updates about her team and her online transformations. I was added as her friend on Talermade fitness Facebook page and saw her progress and success within the industry. When a post came across my news feed in Dec about her upcoming boot camp I couldn't contain my excitement! I knew this was my chance to work with her and finally meet my own fitness goals. I knew she would push me and challenge me and by the end of the boot camp I would be shredded...simple shredded:) So I immediately signed up and counted down the days until the first boot camp. Before I went into Golds that day I was so nervous and didn't know what I had gotten myself into. But I opened the door and there she was, blonde, no make-up, hair pulled back, leggings. ( I soon learned this was her signature look) She said, " And this is Brandy another boot-camper" she told the front desk. So this was it. I was there and officially, " a boot-camper". She walked us up the stairs and before we entered the door she was telling us what equipment we needed, ....ball, 10 lb dumbbell, mat,.... She plugged in her music and got to work! I remember leaving that first day so proud of myself. I called my mom first thing when I got home and said, " I didn't die! But my endorphans were pumping so hard when I left I almost wrecked my car". That's how the workouts were for the remainder of the program. Every week Tayler had something brand new that challenged our body's [...]

From wanting to give up to an IFPA Bikini Pro

So, I really don't know where to start so I'll start from the beginning. Last October I competed in the Allstars. As I was backstage I saw a group of beautiful girls walk by in all black track suits with Team TaylerMade stitched in the front. They immediately caught my attention! When I saw Tayler Parry I knew I wanted to meet her! She had an awesome team that looked professional and ready for business! A few short months later I had the honor of being a part of TaylerMade. Tayler isn't just a coach but an inspiration. She is a woman that motivates me to be a stronger version of myself. Having a team of girls helps with everything! We all go through everything together. I have made so many new friends. There were days when I felt like giving up. Having posing practice every Friday helped me out so much. Getting to talk to Tayler and the girls kept that from happening. Being around positive girls and a positive coach was such a blessing. In the past four months I have grown so much. It has been a dream come true competing in the NANBF this past weekend. Tayler made this the least stressful show! It's like we are a little family. Walking into the hotel room the night before the show with all of the girls, gift bags from our coach, and a slice of pizza for us was heaven!! Having a coach that believes in you and a team that supports you is amazing. I finally feel like my dreams will become a reality. Hard work pays off! I feel so blessed!!

Spice up your food!

1. Weight Loss: For one, the extra kick of hot sauce or a chopped jalapeno can make even the most bland diet food more palatable, causing you to be more likely to stick with your weight loss plan. In addition, they may jack up your metabolism. Studies show that the main compound in chilies, called capsaicin, has a thermogenic effect and may cause the body to burn bonus calories for 20 minutes post chow-down. 2. Heart Health: Studies show that cultures that eat the most spicy food have much lower incidence of heart attack and stroke. Potential reasons: Chili peppers can reduce the damaging effects of LDL (bad cholesterol) and capsaicin may fight inflammation, which has been flagged as a risk factor for heart issues. 3. Cancer Prevention: According to the American Association for Cancer Research, capsaicin has the ability to kill some cancer and leukemic cells. One particular spice, turmeric, found in curry powder and some mustards, may slow the spread of cancer and growth of tumors. "It has the same effects on the body as certain cancer drugs do." says Gregory A. Plotnikoff, M.D., senior consultant for health care innovation at Allina Hospitals and Clinics in Minnesota. Pair it with black pepper to absorb 2,000 percent more turmeric. Fantastic on roasted veggies or kebabs, or in soups. 4. Lower Blood Pressure: Vitamins A and C strengthen the heart muscle walls, and the heat of the pepper increases blood flow throughout your body. All of this equals a stronger cardiovascular system. 5. Fewer Blow-Your-Top Moments: Spicy foods boost production of feel-good hormones, such as serotonin. So they may help ease depression and stress.

She laughed when I approached her about competing, now Bre starts prep for her 3rd show

Words cannot explain how excited I am to start prep for my third show! The gains I have made over the past year surpass my imagination of what I thought I could ever accomplish. It has been a long journey of hard work, tears, good days, bad... days, doubt, and joy. A roller coaster of emotions to say the least! I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of a few people...Tayler Parry has been my confidant throughout this whole process. She has supported me every step of the way and has given me the knowledge to now be able to train myself with her guidance. Tayler has not only supported me but has created a team of supporters who motivate each other. I probably wouldn't have been able to enjoy this journey as much if I didn't have Team Taylermade! I have become best friends with these girls. They push me to do better each and everyday. When I am feeling down these girls are right there to listen whether it's fitness related or not. They are my cheerleaders, motivators, inspiration and best friends. I am so blessed and thankful each and everyday that I have these incredible women in my life! I look forward to our Competition season and can't wait to see everyone on stage! Here's to another great season!See More

Ashley drops 19lbs in 8 weeks on “The Fit Mom” Program

Ashley Draper (Now Aramjoo!) Age: 23 My whole life, I have struggled with both weight and confidence. I have always been busy with school, now finishing my last year of law school and always used that as an excuse for my poor habits. I continued to get heavier and got to a point where I was completely ashamed of myself. I could no longer enjoy things I used to love, like shopping, swimming and taking pictures with friends and family. I got engaged in March 2013 to a man who has been with me, through everything, for seven years. We planned to get married in August 2013 and I knew that something had to change. My weight, my level of confidence and my outlook on life were no longer fair to not only me but to him either. I was recommended to Tayler by Miranda Head. After seeing how awesome Miranda looked from competing, I asked her if she had any recommendations of who to contact that could help me with my goals. I did not want to compete but just wanted to feel better about myself. She recommended contacting Tayler and making the leap to finally contact her was one of the best decisions of my life. I decided to do an 8 week program (since I was exactly 8 weeks away from my wedding!). Tayler created an at-home plan for me to follow so I no longer had any excuses! The results I saw not only in the numbers but also in the pictures brought me to tears. It was not easy but seeing these kinds of results in such a short time made it all worth it! By the end of the [...]
