Don’t Lose Yourself Just For a Show.

WOW where do I even begin. I have been working on this blog for many months now, starting it, stopping it, over thinking it and then finally deciding to complete it. I have had my competition team for almost two years now. I started with 3 bikini competitors and have grown my team to 36 amazing female athletes. I am always willing to take on guys, but I think they are freaked out by the number of women on my team. haha You get 10-12 girls in prep at once I totally understand guys not wanting to be around all that. Anyways, in my 2 years of coaching I must say I have seen and heard it all! I think some guys would pay BIG money to get a hold of my phone for just a few minutes with the countless number of progress pics I get from my girls. I could spill all the crazy things I hear from behind stage to just sitting in the audience, but why I have finally taken the time to sit down and finish this blog is because over this past competition season I have really been disturbed by the number of girls who I have seen become consumed by the competing world. Now before you go all cray cray on me and make nasty comments as I know this blog is going to get (why I am usually very quiet on social media) hear me out on this and remember everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Having coached so many girls to the stage every one of them has heard me say this many times “Don’t forget why you started competing in the first place.” I [...]

Sheila sets a goal to compete and proves you can look amazing at any age!

I hired Tayler of Team TaylerMade in July 2013 just to lose a few pounds and get back in shape again. I informed Tayler that I was not interested in competing whatsoever because I was too out of shape and way too old!! (LOL!) In just 8 short weeks I had completely transformed my entire body with Tayler’s plan! In the meantime I attended the KC Classics to watch a friend of mine compete…and I was instantly hooked!! I thought it over for a while and…yep…I decided I wanted to compete in Bikini Masters! Fast forward 9 months and I hired Tayler as my competition Coach to get me ready for the 2014 KC CLassics. I officially became a Member of Team TaylerMade! I was so nervous and scared! But Tayler and the other girls on the team made me feel so much better. They treated me like one of the family and definitely put my mind at ease. I trained hard and ate clean for 12 weeks. Tayler answered any and all questions I had from nutrition to posing! I continued to get leaner and stronger! I was in the best shape of my entire life! At age 43, I looked and felt better than I did when I was in my 20s! When the BIG DAY came I was surprised at how calm I was! Tayler had taken me under her wing. Her and the other girls helped me through the entire process…minute by minute! It was the most incredible experience I had ever encountered! I am looking forward to KC Classics 2015! I can’t thank Tayler enough for everything she has done for me, physically and mentally. It was the best [...]

Jamie lifts heavy and turns Bikini Pro.

Last November 2013 I decided to compete in my first Bodybuilding competition in the Bikini class. Although I did very well at the Me vs Me show, my body and overall health had been compromised. The diet was a little too rigorous for my body, but I still continued on not knowing what to expect. After the show was over, I knew I would end up loving this sport even more, but needed to find a coach that would take the time to learn my body and invest in time in me. That's when a friend of mine Kris Bridwell highly recommended as you all know Miss Tayler Parry. After seeing pictures of not just Tayler but all of the Taylermadefit girls, I knew I wanted to join the team. I met with Tayler shortly after my first competition. She laid everything out in a simple manner, which I liked. We went over goals that seemed realistic for me. Upon that deciding on KC Classic 2014 All Natural Show. As her closing statement to our meeting she said " Lift heavy girl!" So I took Tayler's words of wisdom and did as she had said. So then June rolls around and it was time to start prepping for KC classic! I cleaned up my diet at 14 weeks but really went full speed with Tayler at 12 weeks. What really threw me through a loop was the fact that she made things so clear and uncomplicated. I wasn't used to that. Not putting down other trainers approach. I just really liked her style to start off with. All the other Taylermadefit girls and I started posing practice right away. It was so helpful and really [...]

“I got a lot of raised eyebrows and laughs when I told people I was going to compete”

Growing up, I was never gifted athletically.I couldn’t catch a ball to save my life, and I was always the last person picked for team sports. It may not seem like a big deal, but it really took a toll on me as I was ridiculed and deemed inferior to my peers. Luckily, I grew up as a competitive swimmer where I learned the importance of hard work and dedication. During my final years of high school, I became extremely dedicated and would go to practice 8 times a week year round.I loved seeing myself improve every day as I put in the hard work.I may not have been the fastest swimmer on the team, but I definitely had one of the biggest hearts. But as high school was coming to an end and college was in the near future, reality struck. As much dedication and commitment as I had in the sport of swimming, I just was not fast enough to swim at a Division 1 school. I started college at Missouri State University in the Fall of 2011, and a part of me felt empty as I was no longer involved in competitive swimming.I missed the feeling of putting my whole heart into something.I started going to the rec center at my school, but like most girls I had no idea what I was doing and thought an hour on the elliptical every day would get me“toned”.It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I became familiar with the weight room and learned the importance of health and nutrition.I started seeing results both in and outside the gym and I loved it. But something was still missing. I had seen Tayler Parry at Golds Gym [...]

Fit & Pregnant

I train many clients from all walks of life, some looking to step on stage, others needing to lose significant weight to those who are just looking for a healthier lifestyle and even some who are expecting. I have a client who is now 21 weeks along in her pregnancy and works out with me 3x a week. She is a rock star and has been training with me for quite some time. We started working together when she was engaged; getting her ready for her big day and now we are keeping her healthy and happy during her pregnancy. Recently she has expressed how some people would make comments about her working out telling her "Aren't you working out too much" "You shouldn't be working out while you’re pregnant" ect. I could tell this really bothered her as she works so hard to be healthy. So I thought this would be a great subject to talk about and get feedback from my followers. I think now a days working out and being pregnant is more common. You will find women working out almost up until they give birth. My personal opinion is that there is a generation in which working out and being pregnant was considered NOT healthy and by doing so you were hurting the baby. Exercising during your pregnancy has great benefits – it can help prepare you for labor and childbirth and lift your spirits – but you need to approach working out with extra caution. Whether you are a regular exerciser looking to continue your regimen during pregnancy or a former couch potato looking to get moving, follow these rules to keep you and your baby safe. 1. Check with [...]
